The fourth annual Senior Resource Carnival was a roaring success.

The carnival was held at the Bob Ruud Community Center March 13.

While the 2007 event had 35 vendors, this year's had 43 with even more valuable information provided to attendees.

Positive comments were made by several individuals receiving information to fit their needs, including Carol Slaughter, who remarked, "It's very informative, has information that is good to know."

Ron Meeker said, "It's a wonderful event, really great for us old folks. I got more pill boxes."

"A wonderful event that helps seniors, said Linda Turner, Ms. Senior Golden Years. "I'm very impressed."

Vendors and visitors alike waited patiently for raffle tickets to be drawn and numbers to be announced.

Prizes included baskets of goodies and other items representative to the vendor or organization in attendance, as well as those made available by Nathan Adelson Hospice.

Venita Frederick, Ms. Senior Pahrump and competing for Ms. Nye County, spoke effusively. "It's just a smashing event. It's wonderful. Everyone is and looks beautiful."

First timer Terrie Morden, chairman for Relay for Life, had nothing but praise as well, saying, "It's a wonderful event; everyone should come see all the people."

Ms. Senior Golden Years U. S. A., Nevada Welfare, Silver Tappers, Social Security and others were a big hit, with many visitors stopping by to ask questions and get help with issues.

Event Coordinator Tonya Brum stated, "I am ecstatic about this year's turnout. The community is really getting to know about the carnival and more come every year."

She added, "We also have a variety of participants this year that seem to be a big hit. We had nearly 250 visitors this year, way more than we expected. The increase in vendors was great as well."

If you would like to be part of next year's event, contact Tonya Brum at Nathan Adelson Hospice, 775-209-3896.
