Seniors bus trip to Laughlin

The Pahrump Senior Center will sponsor a bus trip to Laughlin on March 26.

The bus will leave the VFW Post 10054 on Homestead Road at 8:15 a.m. and make a trip to the Golden Nugget in Laughlin for a fun-filled day.

The return trip will leave the Golden Nugget in Lauglin at 5:15 p.m. and arrive back at the VFW at 8:15 p.m.

Reservations are a must. The deadline is March 24 and there will be no refunds.

Pahrump Film Festival

The Pahrump Fim Festival is shooting a homemade Sci-fi comedy in Pahrump.

People who can memorize lines and are reliable are needed.

March 28 -- explore and learn playgroup, 11 a.m.

Model railroad club meets

The Pahrump Valley Model Railroad Club will meet at 9 a.m., March 22 in the United Methodist Church, 1300 E. Hwy. 372.

Drawing the nude workshop

There will be a workshop on variations in drawing the nude with artist Jehane Rucquoi beginning at 9 a.m., March 29 at Tecopa Hot Springs Resort.

Rucquoi is a painter and has been an artist since childhood. Originally from Belgium, she has studied art around the world including New York, Florence and Beijing.

The class size is limited to 10 and the cost is $50 for the full day. Price includes model fee.

Bring large newsprint pad or sheets with solid backing 29 x 22, clips to hold the paper, charcoal, soft rags and a kneaded eraser.

Pack your lunch or eat at the bistro. Model poses 9-12 noon and again 2-4 p.m.

Stimulus package tax help

The Pahrump Tax Aides will be preparing the necessary tax returns for the Economic Stimulus Package payment for persons who normally do not have to file a tax return.

The free service will be offered 9-3 p.m., on special Fridays in March. Appointments are necessary.

The Church of the Redeemed with Pastor Vivian Chess and Pastor Stan Goldsby are hosting the restart of the 5th Sunday Sing.

This time, it will be called the 5th Sunday Fellowship.

Spring rummage sale

Spring is coming. It's time to clear out those closets and the garage.

Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church will hold the spring rummage sale, 9-4 p.m., Friday, April 4 and 9-3 p.m., April 5 at the church, 650 S. Blagg Road, between Wilson Road and Highway 372.

Set-up will be April 2 and 3.

Chinese auction

Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church will hold a Chinese auction at 2 p.m., April 6 at the church.

Admission is $5 and includes on sheet of tickets, cake and coffee.

All proceeds go to the mortgage debt reduction fund.

Genealogical Society meets

The Pahrump Genealogical Society will meet 6:30 p.m., April 3 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, corner of West and Wilson.

The speaker will be Brian Brown of China Ranch to show slides and speak about his ancestors who were early settlers of the Shoshone area.
