LAS VEGAS -- With several team members missing because of other extracurricular programs, the Pahrump Valley track teams still managed to record second-place finishes in the Louise Heitkotter Invitational at Faith Lutheran High School Saturday.

The PVHS boys scored 104 points, with Overton Moapa Valley emerging the winner with 108.5. Boulder City was third with 102, while Mesquite Virgin Valley had 82 and the host Crusaders 71 3/4. Chino Valley, Ariz., was fourth with 82 points.

Boulder City's girls outpointed Pahrump Valley 142-132 1/2 for first place. Chino Valley had 112 1/2, with Laughlin at 57, Faith Lutheran 55 1/2 and Moapa Valley 53 1/2. Virgin Valley was ninth with 27 points.

Nye County entries did not do well. Beatty's boys had 13 points, while Tonopah had 11. Round Mountain did not score. In the girls' meet, Round Mountain had 11, Tonopah 7 and Beatty 1.

Leading the Class A teams in scoring were the Pahranagat Valley boys with 18 points; Spring Mountain had 14 3/4. The Las Vegas Calvary Chapel girls led 1-A with 17 points; Wells had 16 1/2.
