Hunter safety

The Nevada Department of Wildlife and the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation are co-sponsoring a hunter safety course in Pahrump.

The course is mandatory for all first-time hunters.

The dates and times for the course in Pahrump:

Monday, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Tuesday, 6 to 8.

Wednesday, 6 to 8.

Thursday, 6 to 8.

March 21, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

To register for the course, go to the Web site (www.ndow.org) and complete the on-line work. Work books are also available (for a $5 fee) at WR Sporting LLC, 111 South Frontage Road, Suite 6, across from the Albertson's shopping center.

All work books must be completed before class begins. All classes must be attended to complete the course.

Olympics

Special Olympics of Pahrump needs coaches for track and field and other athletics. Contact Kay Jones at 751-4942.

Track starts Saturday at Pahrump Valley High School, from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m.

Softball

The Pahrump Valley Softball Association is seeking people who can keep score. Adults are preferred, but anyone who is interested will be trained.

The PVSA's spring-summer adult softball men's, women's and co-ed leagues are now forming. Contact Causey at 727-6413.

Roller hockey

The Dragons edged the Sharks 6-5 in a 5-to-10 Division Roller Hockey League game at the Skate Zone Monday. Rick Wills scored three goals, Braden Williams two and Bradley Hamlin one for the winners. Wes Fullmer had four goals and Noah Jubinski one for the Sharks.

In a 10-to-15 Division game, the Ice Hawks stopped the Stars 4-3. Sam Tucsnak had two goals for the winners. Shannon Smith, Michael Aviles and Chris Moffat had one goal each for the Stars.

Sertoma tilt

The Sparks Sertoma Club announced that its 27th annual for-charity Football Classic will be played June 20 at Mackay Stadium, on the University of Nevada campus in Reno.

Kickoff will be at 7:30 p.m.

Two teams, the Silver and Blue and comprised of 50 players each, will compete; the athletes will be drawn from 33 Class A, 2-A and 3-A teams in Nevada, Lake Tahoe and Truckee, Calif.

Cody Neville of Yerington and Dan Avansino of Reno will be the head coaches. Rosters will be announced.

Camp in March

Advantage Basketball is accepting registration for a basketball camp in March next week at the Tarkanian Academy in Las Vegas.
