What's up with diesel?

Could someone please tell me why diesel fuel has jumped so much higher than regular fuel?

We have a diesel pickup that my husband will not drive because of the high prices and that means no vacation for us. The pickup was used to pull our camper. Thank you for a reply.

JEAN B. PRUITT

Thanks, Nye Republicans

I am very proud and grateful to all the 215 Nye County Republicans that attended our county convention in Beatty last Saturday at the Beatty Senior Center.

Registration started on time at 8:30 a.m. and the convention started at 9:30 a.m., as planned. The convention was adjourned after 6 p.m.

I would like to thank all the volunteers, namely Patti Chipman, Laura Billman, Rosemarie Johnson, Aynsley Sutherland, Vicki Gladsjo, Marian Farson, Debbie Baker, Pat Bain, Cora Bishop, Howard Wick, Robert Cameron, John Timmerman, Dawn Timmerman, Paul Willis, Jenny Liakopoulos, Peter Liakopoulos, Marvin Minnick, Lewis Beaver, Verna Trout and Sheron Brittingham. I apologize if I omitted someone.

My special thanks to Patti Chipman, Paul Willis, Debbie Baker, Jeffrey Bobeck, Sandra Darby and Mike Darby, who stayed behind and cleaned up the place.

It was a long day and the convention went along properly and smoothly with discussions on the floor. Everyone got a chance to be heard; there were differences of opinion but overall, as good Republicans, the convention went smoothly and well.

Congratulations to all of the attendees and from the bottom of my heart. I was so pleased and thrilled by the way each and every one conducted themselves.

The Nye County Republican Central Committee will hold a "Volunteers' Appreciation Day" this April and we will send notices to everyone as soon as we have all the details. My congratulations to Lesley Stronach, who won the 50/50 raffle drawing with a take-home pot of $520. Thank you to all those who bought the raffle tickets.

Again, thank you all and please remember, united we stand, divided we fall.

FELY A. QUITEVIS

Chairwoman/Nye County Republican Central Committee
