Contractors cited by state board

The license of Mojave Homes, a residential and small commercial contractor based in Pahrump, was revoked by the state Contractor's Board during a Feb. 28 meeting. A summary of the actions taken by the contractor's board against eight southern Nevada contractors, noted Mojave Homes provided substandard workmanship and failed to take corrective action. The company was also cited for failure to establish financial responsibility. Mojave Homes was also fined $4,000, ordered to pay investigative costs and make full restitution to the parties damaged by the action. Peter Gazsy, a partner in Mojave Homes, and Frederic Chad Beesley are named in the case. Richard Martin Lowe, president of AOS Services Inc., and Beesley, a director in that corporation, are also named in the case. Their address of record is 50 North My Way. AOS Services Inc. has a license to install terrazzo and marble. The complaint states Paul Brecht purchased two single-family homes at 2011 South Sycamore Ave. in Pahrump in October 2005 for $264,000. Brecht filed a workmanship complaint against Mojave Homes in July 2007. A contractor's board investigator cited 29 violations, including cracks in the stucco in various places and numerous gaps. The contractors were given notice of the substandard workmanship Sept. 7 but failed to respond, the contractor's board report states. Jerry Bauknecht filed a workmanship complaint against Mojave Homes in November 2007 after purchasing a duplex at 2541 E. Ambush St. for $340,000 in 2006. That complaint involved improper installation of concrete trim tiles along the eaves. Mojave Homes failed to respond to the state contractor's board notice, the citation report states. A summary suspension was imposed on another Pahrump contractor, Desert Breeze by Integrity Inc. Desert Breeze by Integrity Inc. has a license for residential and small commercial construction. Felicia M. "Sissy" Ortega is president and Donald Welch Durham is both secretary and treasurer. The state contractor's board alleges the company failed to correct three workmanship complaints and owes $30,733. |
