Easter Sunrise Service

Central Valley Baptist Church will have an Easter Sunrise Service at 6:30 a.m., March 23, 3170 S. Blagg Road.

American Crown Circus

The Nevada Native American Cultural Society will sponsor the American Crown Circus in Pahrump.

The event is scheduled for two shows, 6 p.m. and 8 p.m., today, March 7 at Petrack Park.

The next fish fry at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church will be 4-7 p.m., March 7 and again on March 14 at 781 E. Gamebird Rd. There will be no fish fry on Good Friday.

Craft and bake sale

Saved by Grace Lutheran Church will have an Easter craft and bake sale 8-2 p.m., March 8 at 1481 Gamebird Road, near Money Street.

Proceeds will go to the building fund.

Poetry and coffee

The ongoing poetry series and coffee will meet 10 a.m.-noon, Saturday, March 8 at Lois Layne's Deli, corner of Dahlia and Basin, across from Petrack Park.

The Nye County Republican Central Committee is holding their convention March 8 at the Beatty Senior Center in Beatty, to elect delegates to the state convention in April.

IHOBF recital

The International House of Blues Foundation invites the public to "The Blues Schoolhouse" and a concert recital for the Positive Action and Methodologies Prevention programs at 9 a.m., April 9, Mandalay Bay, Las Vegas.

The IHOBF Action for the Art Initiative raises awareness about the importance of the arts and creates opportunities for students to exhibit/perform their artistic creations.

Stimulus package tax help

The Pahrump Tax Aides will be preparing the necessary tax returns for the Economic Stimulus Package payment for persons who normally do not have to file a tax return.

The free service will be offered 9-3 p.m., on special Fridays in March. Appointments are necessary.

Pet adoption

The Nye County Animal Shelter will hold a pet adoption 10-2 p.m., March 8 at Hollywood Video, 240 S. Hwy. 160. Adoption fees for dogs is $64 and $36 for cats.

NWHA training clinic

The National Wild Horse Association will hold a training clinic at 10 a.m., March 15, at Windrock Ranch, 4779 W. Bell Vista Ave.

The clinic is to help horse owners train horses, not restrain them. The clinic includes demonstrations by their professional trainer, help with problem solving and interactive hands-on help.

Come with or without a horse.

Space is limited and reservations are requested.

No dogs will be allowed.

The NWHA is a nonprofit organization, but they are asking for a suggested donation of $10 per person. Call 702-452-5853 to make reservations or get more information.

Community garage sale

The entire community of Artesia is holding a garage sale to benefit the Artesia Community Center.

The event is scheduled 7-3 p.m., March 8.

Enter the subdivision at Kellogg Road and Fox Boulevard and follow the garage sale signs.

Everything imaginable will be on sale and baked goods and refreshments may be purchased at the Community Center, 6601 Fox Blvd.

DAR meets

The Pahrump Springs chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution will hold a regular monthly meeting at 10 a.m., March 12 at the Library.

Lt. Col. (Ret.) Robert Swadell will present a program on intelligence in the Revolutionary War.

The National Wild Horse Association will have a spring ride and Easter egg hunt. The event begins with breakfast and can include a steak lunch.

The ride and Easter egg hunt are scheduled for 10 a.m. and Craig Leet will provide the steak lunch around 1 p.m.

The ride and lunch is $20 per person and lunch only is $15.

Revival

The Second Missionary Baptist Church of Pahrump will have an annual revival at 7 p.m., March 19-21 at the church, 1591 Bridger St.

Kiwanis Black Tie Affair

The Kiwanis Club of Pahrump Valley will have the 3rd annual Black Tie Affair starting 6 p.m., March 8 in the Pahrump Nugget Banquet Hall.

There will be a no host bar, live music from 8 p.m. to midnight, and a buffet dinner.

Tickets are $30 in advance and $35 at the door.

VEA District I meeting

The purpose of this meeting is to conduct business in accordance with Article III, Section 6 of the Association Bylaws and such other business as may properly come before this meeting.

Caregiver training

Nathan Adelson Hospice will provide a two-day workshop to teach individuals to be caregivers in a home/hospice or health care/nursing home environment 9-5 p.m., March 17 and 18, in the training room at Desert View Medical Center, 360 S. Lola Lane.

The 16-hour training course is free and participants receive a certificate of attendance.

Reservations are necessary and should be made no later than March 13.

Ms. Senior Nye County Pageant

The Ms. Senior Nye County Pageant for 2008 will be held April 4-5, at Saddle West Hotel and Casino.

Any ladies at the elegant age of 60 plus may enter. Everyone has a talent and dancers, singers, comediennes or any other stage performances are welcome.

The winner of the pageant will continue to the Ms. Senior Nevada State Pageant to be held at the Suncoast Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas at the end of August.

Free tax aide service

IRS trained counselors will be offering their services at the Bob Ruud Community Center, Room B, Basin Road and Highway 160.

The goal is to provide free tax preparation and e-filing to young, low-income taxpayers and working seniors who may qualify for the earned income tax credit and may not be receiving it.

The volunteers will be available Wednesdays and Saturdays from 9 a.m. until 3:30 p.m., during the tax season through April 20.

Appointments are necessary.
