Another scam noted by local officials

The Pahrump Valley Times has been notified of yet another scam, this time involving Chrysler.

Recently, Chrysler became aware of a consumer mail scam where a letter is being sent to the general public stating they are a "Star Prize Winner" of a new Chrysler 300C and a $1.5 million dollar cash prize.

The letter appears as an official piece of Chrysler correspondence originating from Chrysler Promotions in Windsor, Ontario, Canada.

The letter will give directions to contact someone who will supposedly process your ticket and confirmation numbers. Part of the scam involves the "winner" remitting the shipping charges and other fees.

The corporate security organization for the automobile manufacturer is in the early stages of investigation and is working with the appropriate authorities to put an end to the scam as soon as possible.

In the interim, consumers should know this is not a Chrysler LLC program.

If you receive a copy of the letter, please fax it to the Chrysler Security Group, 248-512-0934. The letter did not appear in the PVT.
