A number of town events received financial support from the Pahrump Town Board at its Tuesday, Feb. 26 meeting.

The Pahrump Valley High School Rodeo was approved for a town grant of up to $2,500 from the town's room tax fund.

The Professional Bull Riders Rodeo event, slated for May 3 at the McCullough Arena was approved for a request of up to $5,200 from the room tax fund to help pay for advertising.

Vice Chairman John McDonald voted against the funding because the event is a for-profit, private event.

Continuing on the advertising streak, the board also approved $1,200 to pay for a $100 a month lease for a sign promoting the town at Death Valley Junction on Highway 372 and Bell Vista Avenue. The lease payments will be funded through the room tax fund.

The sign, located on private property, can have banners and posters attached to it to advertise special events such as the Fall Festival and various rodeo events.

The Parks and Recreation advisory board underwent some membership changes with the board's acceptance of David Patten's resignation.

Patten will be replaced by Jeff Stacy as a regular member and Ken Causey was approved as an alternate member.
