Town audit is clean
By CHRISTINA EICHELKRAUT
In the age of Enron, it's always comforting to know funds aren't being embezzled off to Switzerland or public money isn't being laundered squeaky-clean into someone's private pockets. Fortunately, the town of Pahrump doesn't have to worry about that. The Pahrump Town Board approved and accepted a clean audit conducted by Daniel C. McArthur, Ltd. at its Tuesday, Feb. 21 meeting. McArthur gave the town's finances a clean bill of health for the fiscal year of 2006-07, citing no non-compliance issues. The town's primary revenue source for governmental activities, as with most public agencies on any level, came primarily from various taxes, which contributed a total of 76.4 percent of government money. Ad valorem taxes contributed $2,221,278 or 41.3 percent of tax revenues, consolidated taxes contributed another 17.7 percent, or $952,388, and the remaining 17.4 percent came from charges for services of $936,314. The unreserved general fund balance for the fiscal year was $1,539,257, an increase of $309,494 from last year. The town's net assets also increased, from $13,180,407 to $15,137,193. |
