Arbors Flowers now in business
By MARY BALDASNO
On every special occasion, the one thing that is consistent is the need for flowers. Catherine Sigbeil and husband Richard have brought a new store to satisfy that need in perfect fashion. Arbors Flowers and Gifts held their grand opening in grand style on Friday at 1266 E. Calvada Blvd. The opening was attended by Dan Rodriquez, Brian Strain, and Donna LaDuke of the Pahrump Chamber of Commerce; Don Uthoff, Nevada State Bank; Lynnette Schlager, Ms. Nye County; Eileen DeCosta, Ms. Sr. Golden Years 2008; Gisella Thoma of Gisella's Café and others. Dan Rodriguez, the president of the Pahrump Valley Chamber of Commerce, said, "It's really exciting to see locally owned businesses occurring in Pahrump. Arbors is a perfect example for seeing how Pahrump is moving towards the future. We wish them all the best." Catherine had wanted her own shop since high school, but reality forced her to put it on hold for another time. Instead, she went to college receiving an ATA degree in engineering. After 32 years of working for Rockwell Corporation and the Hughes Corporation which supported both NASA and the Navy submarine service, she retired and is now able to realize her dream. She guarantees friendly assistance and does all she possibly can to aid all her customers. Helpers, Tenya Dries and Esta Ward, design and make the arrangements and have them ready to be delivered when they are needed. Catherine expects to have her current part-time workers become full-time by the end of summer and she is already preparing for the holidays. "I have items that are inexpensive that can fit any budget. Helping a customer in a time of need is why I'm here. I don't mind helping those who have little to pay," said Catherine. Special occasions of any type are handled with special care. Helping Pahrump is also part of her desires. She wants to assist Pahrump with its growth and preparations for coming of age. To ensure complete satisfaction, her suppliers include Milanos, Flowers 2000, Floral Syndicate and more. She also stays up-to-date on products through her daughter Vicky Bennett in California. Asked if she thinks it isn't a little risky opening a business in the current economic environment, she said, "I'm a risk taker. Nothing is riskier than working virtually alone in an environment of men in a high demand job at NASA." Arbors Flowers and Gifts can be contacted by calling 727-4949. |
