Shooting

Rodney Sutton was sitting in his hotel room at Saddle West Sunday night, when he unexpectedly found himself ducking a bullet that had been shot through the wall by Todd Bershaud, 60, his hotel neighbor.

According to a sheriff's office press release, deputies were dispatched to the Saddle West at about 8 p.m. for a report of shots fired.

Subsequent investigation revealed that Bershaud accidentally shot a loaded gun with which he was reportedly "practicing a weapon manipulation drill" he had learned as a student at Frontsite Shooting Academy.

The single shot reportedly went through the wall and hit Sutton's bed.

"Although never actually struck by the bullet, the victim was injured in the thigh and subsequently transported to the hospital for evaluation," the sheriff's office press release states.

The press release did not say whether Bershaud had been arrested.

Arrested

Justin Eyserbeck, 18, was arrested for allegedly assaulting his parents Friday.

The Nye County Sheriff's Office was dispatched to a residence on North Linda Street at approximately 8 p.m., where Bill Eyserbeck, Justin's father, reportedly told deputies his son had taken off into the desert armed with a baseball bat and a knife.

Justin was located 18 minutes later with the help of K-9 Deputy Chico.

"The suspect was able to come to his senses when he saw K-9 Chico showing his teeth," the press release said.

Dep. Deutch placed Justin under arrest and transported to him the Nye County Detention Center where he was booked on charges of domestic battery, battery with a deadly weapon, and assault with a deadly weapon.

The latter two charges stem from the altercation that reportedly occurred prior to the arrival of the sheriff's office deputies.

An interview with Bill, 38, and Adrienne Eyserbeck, 37, Justin's mother, revealed that Justin had allegedly threatened Bill with the baseball bat and knife and also struck Adrienne with a chair.

Although Justin had been taken into custody, K-9 Dep. Chico's day wasn't quite over yet.

Chico later located the baseball bat and knife, which Justin had thrown into the desert.
