Crime Report
Man arrested for kidnapping Joseph Paul Holmes, 27, was arrested Thursday, June 12, and booked on charges of domestic battery, first-degree kidnapping and false imprisonment. Holmes, according to the Nye County Sheriff's Office, "stated he did nothing wrong." Madison Knight, 19, reportedly told a different version of events, however, in which the opposite was true. Dep. E. Murphy was dispatched to a Valero Street address at approximately 8:30 p.m. for a reported domestic battery. Knight told the deputy that Holmes picked her up and the two began to verbally argue shortly thereafter. She said she asked to be let out of the car but Holmes allegedly did not allow her leave the vehicle. Holmes, according to Knight, instead kept driving for about 20 minutes before telling her he was going to take her home. As they got closer to Knight's home, however, Holmes allegedly began yelling at Knight again. Once again, Knight tried to get out of the car but Holmes allegedly hit and head-butted her. According to the sheriff's office, Murphy "could see that the female had a red mark to her left cheekbone and her face was red." Holmes was located and arrested. His bail was set at $204,500. |
