Kyle Mills, a Pahrump Valley High School Class of 2008 graduate, was ninth in the Great Southwest Classic triple jump at Albuquerque, N.M., last weekend.

The best hop, skip and jump for Nevada's Class 3-A champion was 45 feet, 10 inches.

McKenzie Dean, a rising senior at PVHS, was 16th in the 1500-meter run in 5:16.35; the winner was Eleanor Fulton of Highland, Colo., in 4:43.95.

Ashley Lindgen, who will be a PVHS sophomore, was 20th in the 200 in 0:27.23; the winning time was 0:24.08. Lindgren was also on a 4x100 relay team that was 12th in 0:52.38. The top time was 0:43.95.

* Dominique Maloy, a freshman at Arizona State University, is on the Sun Devils' women's team that is competing in the NCAA Division I Track and Field Championships at Des Moines, Iowa, through Saturday.

Iowa was struck by tornadoes and heavy rains Wednesday, with Des Moines affected by flood waters several feet deep in some neighborhoods.

The meet, being contested at Drake University, was not adversely affected by the poor weather Thursday.

Maloy was on a 4x100 relay team that did not qualify for the finals. The quartet included Jordan Durham, Stephanie Garrett and Charanda Williams, with their time 0:44.76.
