Seven women will compete for the title of Ms. Senior Golden Years, during the sixth annual pageant.

The pageant is a tribute to women 60 years of age and older who have reached "the age of elegance."

Contestants are judged on their talents, evening gowns, bathing suits, platforms and interviews. A judge of the Ms. Universe Pageant will be part of the panel of four and the emcee is Steve Elliott.

Linda Turner was crowned Ms. Senior Golden Years during the 2007 pageant. She will hand over her crown to one of seven contestants:

* Gail Davis, a 19-year resident of Nevada who retired from Clark County District Court where she worked with juries and as a marriage commissioner. She is an avid bowler and comes from Illinois and Wisconsin, where she wrote a column called "Gail's Gossip" for a Milwaukee bowling publication.

Davis joined a championship bowling team in 2001 that brought the Las Vegas Women's Bowling Association trophy to Pahrump.

A mother of three, she works at Cahlan West shopping Center, loves to dance and do community service.

* Maxine Brown came to Pahrump from Los Angeles in 1979, and loves gardening. She has owned three different businesses, the last being a real estate office. Her experience in customer service is one of her greatest assets.

She is awaiting the birth of her first great-grandchild due in October; she has 14 grandchildren.

* Eileen DeCosta is a retired beautician who has lived in Nevada since 1990 and moved to Pahrump with her husband in 2006. She learned to dance and sew as a teenager.

A mother of two, she was active in church work and sang in the church choir. DeCosta helped do makeup, create costumes and direct skits for programs every year to raise money for overseas missions.

* Lesley Stronach is a retired entertainer and paralegal. A grandmother of nine, she operated an independent paralegal service for 10 years in Pahrump.

Stronach has been busy volunteering for community organizations including the Literacy Coalition, Medicare Assistance, district court, drug court, the Nye Community Coalition and planning entertainment for seniors and nursing home patients.

* Connie Alumbaugh is a former Kansas resident who relocated to Nevada as a military wife. She retired with a back injury from a job in casino security.

Alumbaugh is an expert in firearms and taught martial arts to the military police in Germany. She has five state archery awards and three Senior Olympic gold medals.

Alumbaugh enjoys doing scroll saw woodwork and stained glass pieces. She is involved in church functions, works out daily at the gym, has overcome a hearing disorder and survived cancer.

* Nena Kelly has been a resident of Nevada since 1986, owning a flower shop and landscaping business. In 1992 she moved to Pahrump and worked for Nye County for one year, then became a Realtor for Re/Max.

Kelly raised three boys and is currently raising a 14-year-old granddaughter.

She loves to bake, dance and sing karaoke.

* Rose Inman grew up one of six children. She loves dancing, playing softball and being with her family.

Inman and her husband Jack went through four years in the seminary and became very busy in church life after Jack was ordained. She volunteered for pastoral care and hospice care, where she is still active.

Inman enjoys golfing, bowling, the warm climate in Pahrump, but mostly dancing.

The Ms. Golden Years pageant begins at 7 p.m. Saturday evening in the showroom at Saddle West.

Tickets are $10 and will be available at Saddle West in advance or from pageant contestants.
