The Nye County Sports Association returns with summer basketball for youngsters 7-18. The camps will be from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday through Aug. 16 at sites to be announced.

Registration fee is $30; forms will be distributed at all Pahrump Valley schools, or contact Courtney Lewis at 1-702-237-5124 or 727-7651. Write NCSA at P.O. Box 3460, 89041.

Petrack events

*Volleyball in the Park will be conducted each Sunday, starting at 6 p.m. at Petrack Park. A grass court net will be set up for all who wish to play.

*Each Monday and Friday, at 8 a.m., senior softball is being played at Petrack Park. Contact Causey for information.

* Pahrump Valley Softball Association league standings are:

Women -- The Crew 13-1, Ruff Ryders 9-5, No Drama 4-10, H&M 2-12.

Co-Ed -- Ruff Ryders 7-1, Road Kill 6-2, Ros

AYSO

Registration dates have been announced for AYSO soccer players.

Players born between Aug. 1, 1989 and July 31, 2004 are eligible to register. A copy of the child's birth certificate should be brought to the registration center.

The dates are:

* June 7, 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.;

* July 12, 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

The community center will be the site for registration on those dates, according to information provided by the soccer organization.

The cost will be $85 for the first child, $80 for each additional child within the same family.

Pre-registration can be made on the Web site, www.eayso.org.

All players in divisions U8 to U14 on either June 7 or July 12 will be evaluated at the community center. Players should bring shin guards to the evaluations.

The Sharks

A junior volleyball camp for students grades 6-8 next school year will be heold Aug. 25-28 from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the Rosemary Clarke Middle School gym.

Tryouts for the 2008 Lady Sharks team will be Sept. 2-4, from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the gym.

Another camp for 7th and 8th graders may be held this month. Call 727-7737 for information.

Pop Warner

Pop Warner football registration forms for players 5 to 12 years old can be picked up, then completed, at Worden's Farmers Insurance, 2210 E. Commercial Road, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays through Fridays.

The cost is $180; applicants must bring a copy of their child's birth certificate to register.

Practice starts Aug. 1, with eight games to be played.

Roller hockey

At the Skate Zone, Roller Hockey League, results were Green Machine 20, Sharks 11, Green Goblins 11, Bruins 8 and Bruins 2, Chicken Wings 1.

Kasen Oakey scored 12 goals, with Brayden Williams adding six and Coby Richards 2 for the Machine. Chris Menges had five goals, Noah Jubinsky three and Wes Fulmer two for the Sharks.

James Pena had six goals for the Goblins, with Shannon Schmidt and Michael Aviles netting two each. Scotty Maughgan had four goals and James Witten three for the the Bruins.

Basketball

Advantage Basketball camps is now accepting registration for summer break camp at the Tarkanian Basketball Academy in Las Vegas.
