The Pahrump Town Board conducted a variety of business at its last regular meeting July 24.

* John McDonald's resignation was formally accepted by the board. A letter of his resignation was read at the prior meeting, citing his recent dealings with the Nevada Ethics Commission as his reason for leaving.

* Nicole Shupp was elected as the board's new vice chairman in a 3-0 vote. Shupp abstained from voting for herself.

* It's hard to conceive of next year's fireworks show topping this year's, but that's exactly what John O'Brien promised to the board when they considered when to schedule the display.

Although the idea of teaming up with the Pahrump Nugget was briefly discussed, ultimately the board decided the show would take place Friday, July 3.

* Town Manager Bill Kohbarger will soon get his "to-do list" from the board.

A special meeting to outline the manager's objectives was scheduled for Aug. 12.
