Saddle West hosted a large crowd of chuckling Pahrumpians on a recent Friday evening when Comedy Night hosted stand-up comedians Kathleen Dunbar and Ron Sherwood.

Sherwood came on to the stage surprisingly -- and hilariously -- well versed in Pahrump culture and recent goings-on.

The result was a comedy in keeping with the old saying, "It's funny 'cause it's true."

The audience laughed at acerbic quips about Wal-Mart being the only other thing to do in town, a movie theater "coming soon," and the observation that most Pahrumpians could take their kids to Vegas because their kids are AARP members.

Dunbar, who performs every year in Pahrump, brought an edgy sarcasm to her life experiences of divorce and dealing with an adult son with the audacity to tell her to wipe her feet and keep his new apartment clean.

Both comedians engaged a willing audience and kept everyone smiling throughout the show.
