PAC artist reception

The art of Jessica Bindi, a show entitled "Jessica Bindi: One Woman Show," opened at the Pahrump Community Library July 11.

The artist reception is scheduled for 1-3 p.m., July 18 at the library.

Teen and family nights at pool

The Pahrump Community Pool, Nye Communities Coalition and St. Martin's in the desert Episcopal Church will host two nights of free swimming.

Teen night will be 5-8 p.m. Aug. 7 for youth ages 12- through 18.

Family night will be 5-8 p.m. Aug. 10 for families and children. Children must be accompanied by a parent or caregiver.

The events are free and refreshments will be provided.

These are alcohol-, tobacco- and drug-free events.

Bluegrass band at Heritage Church

The Heritage Bible Church will sponsor a bluegrass concert performed by the Parks Family Bluegrass Band at 10:30 a.m. July 20 at the church.

Everyone is invited and snacks will be provided.

Fellowship services will follow.

Little Miss and Little Master

Interviews will be held for the Little Miss and Little Master contest for all boys and girls ages 4-6 who would like to enter.

Girls will interview 10-10:45 a.m. and boys will interview 11-11:45 Aug. 2 at the town annex building, 270 N. Highway 160.

The winners will be announced Sept. 26 and they will represent Pahrump in the Fall Festival.

VFW July

There is a swap meet every second Sunday in the VFW parking lot. Spaces rent for $7 each if you provide your own table and $10 each if you rent one from the VFW.

Friday dinner is 5-7 p.m. and donations are accepted as payment.

VFW and Auxiliary meets the third Saturday at 1 p.m. Cooties VFW meets at 11 a.m.

Military funeral services for deceased veterans are available. Please make the request by calling Post Chaplain Ken James, 727-6072.

Computer users meet

The Pahrump Computer User Group will meet at 1 p.m., Aug. 4 in the large meeting room of the Pahrump Community Library.

The program will be "Building a Web site From Scratch."

Mike Erwin will do the presentation step by step. Don Norvell is still on vacation.

The meeting is free and open to the public.

Please use the parking lot at the rear of the library.

Bookstore is overstocked

The Friends of the Library Bookstore is having a book sale.

There is a fresh supply of paperback and hard cover used books in pristine condition.

Prices range from 50 cents to $2.

The bookstore is located in the Pahrump Community Library on East Street. They are open 9-7 p.m., Monday-Thursday and 9-5 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.

Goldfield Days

The historic Goldfield Days Celebration and Land Auction will be Aug. 15-17.

There will be a parade, live music and street dancing, staged shoot-outs, crafts, antiques, bus tours of Goldfield, a western barbecue and much more.

The event dates for Art in the Park are 9-5 p.m. Oct. 4 and 5.
