James Gladden Jones James "Jim the Cowboy" Gladden Jones went home to be with the Lord on July 4, 2008. He passed away peacefully in Las Vegas in the comforting care of the hospice and his loving wife of 18-and-a-half years at his side. Jim was born April 4, 1933, in Kiowa, Okla. He resided in Pahrump for the last 12 years with his wife Juline and son Kiowa (age 15-and-a-half). He has said that he "lived the Grapes of Wrath" in the cotton camps and working the fields in the 1940s. Throughout his life he has lived in Oklahoma, New Mexico, Arizona, California, Texas and Nevada. Jim was blessed with 75 years during which time he served in the Navy as a diesel mechanic on a troop deployment boat during the Korean War, was an auto mechanic during his working years and was a Baptist preacher wherever anyone would listen and the pastor of Fellowship Baptist Church in Tyler, Texas for six years. He loved to cook, watch Westerns, sing and play his guitar and harmonica. His wife Juline, who works for the Pahrump Post Office; children Judith, Richard and Randy, all of Pennsylvania; LaDena and Carolyn, both of California; Lonnie and Barbara, both of Texas and Kiowa of Pahrump; stepsons David and Kevin, both of Texas; sister Zona Arthur of Oklahoma City, Okla.; half-brother Gene Beckham of Tulsa, Okla.; quite a few grandchildren and several great-grandchildren; a long list of nieces and nephews and extended family and previous wives Carol of North Carolina and Jimie of Pennsylvania survive him. He was preceded in death by parents Willard Jones and Ella Jones Beckham; sister Verna Britten; children Baby James and Little Jim and a previous wife Brenda. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 20 in the Bob Ruud Community Center, 150 Highway 160. There will be refreshments afterward with a potluck theme. Those planning to attend may bring a dish if they wish. (07/04/2008) ![]() Bruce Albert Kraemer Bruce Albert Kraemer, 39, passed away July 9, 2008, in Pahrump. He was born Dec. 25, 1968, in Denver, Colo., and was a resident of Pahrump for nine years, having come from Colorado. He was self-employed, had a 12-year education and was of the Lutheran faith. Mother Margaret Kraemer of Pahrump; sisters Barbara (Duane) Gossett, Jenny (Mike) Smaling and Valerie (Bryan) Perko all of Colorado; brother Dell (Hydie) Kraemer of Virginia; fiance Robyn Gleasson of Pahrump and stepdaughter Desiray Kelly of Colorado survive him. He was preceded in death by his father. Services will be private. (07/09/2008) ![]() Elton V. Ainge Elton V. Ainge passed away July 12, 2008, in Pahrump. He was born Nov. 18, 1930, in California and was a resident of Pahrump for two years, having come from Las Vegas. He was a construction worker, had a 12-year education and was of the Protestant faith. He served in the U.S. Air Force and was a veteran of the Korean War. Wife Margaret Ainge of Pahrump; son Rick Ainge of Las Vegas; daughter Connie Jones of California; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren survive him. Services will be 9 a.m. July 19 at Pahrump Family Mortuary. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family. (07/12/2008) ![]() Robert Harkins Thompson Robert Harkins Thompson, 79, passed away July 14, 2008, in Pahrump. He was born May 12, 1929, in Oklahoma City, Okla., and was a resident of Pahrump for three years, having come from Las Vegas. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and retired a lieutenant colonel in 1976. He was a member of Lakeview Executive Golf Course and of the Methodist faith. Wife Merle Thompson of Pahrump; sons Craig Thompson of Pahrump and Scott Thompson of Farmington, N.M., and daughter-in-law Meaw Thompson of Pahrump survive him. The viewing will be 1 p.m. and the service at 3 p.m., July 17 at Pahrump Family Mortuary. (07/14/2008) |
