Recital Showcase The Artistic Centre will present the annual showcase at 1:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. on July 26 in the Pahrump Valley High School auditorium. The show is entitled "Celebrating 10 Years of Dance Through Music Genre" and the program includes dance numbers in tap, jazz, combo, hip-hop, ballet and pointe. There will be a gymnastics exhibition. Little Miss and Little Master Interviews will be held for the Little Miss and Little Master contest for all boys and girls ages 4-6 who would like to enter. Girls will interview 10-10:45 a.m. and boys will interview 11-11:45 Aug. 2 at the town annex building, 270 N. Highway 160. Art exhibit opens PAC will present the works of "Jessica Bindi, One Woman Show" at the Pahrump Community Library. The show opens July 11 and the artists reception is scheduled for 1-3 p.m. July 18. Hospice coffee house Tickets are now on sale for the 4th annual Nathan Adelson Blue Butterfly Coffee House which begins at 6 p.m. July 12 in the event center of the Pahrump Nugget. Tickets are $15 each or two for $25. For more information on the event, to purchase tickets, to be a corporate sponsor or to donate a raffle prize, call Tonya, 751-5601. The event is limited to adults over 21. Seniors going shopping The Pahrump Senior Center is hosting a bus trip to Primm for seniors who want to "shop until you drop." The bus will leave the VFW on Homestead Road at 8 a.m. July 17 and arrive in Primm at Buffalo Bill's at 10:30 a.m. Participants will receive a voucher for a free lunch buffet and shuttle service to and from the shopping mall will be available at no charge. The bus will leave Primm at 5 p.m. and return to the VFW at 7:30 p.m. Reservations must be made and paid no later than July 15. Call 727-5008 for more information and reservations. Library schedule for July Computer classes -- Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday; sign up at the library, classes are : Basic, Beyond Basic, Advanced and Genealogy. Favorite Authors book club -- 1:30 p.m., July 15; this month's author is Mary Daheim. Read anything by her and join the discussion. Movie Day -- Saturday, July 26, "The Sword in the Stone." Shoes and socks donations For the Love of Kids and Bikes is taking shoes and socks donations at the Short Branch Saloon in Crystal. The donation of a pair of shoes will get the donor a steak dinner and a pair of socks will get the donor a meatloaf dinner. The drive ends Aug. 2. The Short Branch opens at 10 a.m. and is closed on Wednesday and Thursday. Call 775-372-1717 for more information and to reserve your steak if you know you're going. Goldfield Days The historic Goldfield Days Celebration and Land Auction will be Aug. 15-17. There will be a parade, live music and street dancing, staged shoot-outs, crafts, antiques, bus tours of Goldfield, a western barbecue and much more. There is a fresh supply of paperback and hard cover used books in pristine condition. Prices range from 50 cents to $2. The bookstore is located in the Pahrump Community Library on East Street. They are open 9-7 p.m., Monday-Thursday and 9-5 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. |
