When couples plan a monumental event like a wedding, and they live in Pahrump, it may be difficult to obtain all the services to make the occasion as special as they would like for it to be.

There are some options, and one of them is to retain a wedding planner.

Denise Flanagan offers her services to those couples wanting more than is available to them here.

Retired from the Air Force, Flanagan moved here in 2004 with her husband, who is a retired New York firefighter. They built a home and she started the business of D's Enchanted Memories in 2006. She said, "I've had the business licensed and open since 2006. It's hard to get the word out to couples wanting to plan a big wedding that I'm here for them."

Her business revolves around a variety of services. "I can do something simple like providing just a list of vendors who will cater to their (the couple) needs and let them plan their own wedding, or I can take it from the beginning stages all the way through the reception if that's what they want," she said.

Flanagan isn't trying to take business away from Pahrump, she's just aware that many people settle for something other than their dreams because the services here are limited. She is licensed and pays her sales taxes here.

She said, "We like Pahrump and I felt I had to find a way to keep my business here." The answer to providing unavailable services is to be a go-between.

"I've heard so many couples say they settled for this or that simply because, to have what they did want, they'd have to go to Vegas. They don't know where to start."

Flanagan can be the starting place. Because of her contacts, she is able to get discounts not available to the individual.

Most important to her is giving the couple what they want. Flanagan said, "It doesn't matter what the parents want, it matters what the couple wants. It's their day, and a wedding is a memory of a lifetime." That comment is also the slogan of D's Enchanted Memories.

Flanagan was laughing when she said, "I like being a go-between. I act as one between family members too."
