Pahrump patriotism?

I am confused and appalled. What gives the town leaders the right to decide Pahrump will celebrate America's birthday on July 5 instead of July 4 as it has been for 231 years?

Is it for personal business or political reasons or do they not understand "Patriotism?"

Next year, have fireworks and celebration on the real Fourth of July.

I don't know where these leaders came from, but if they can't do better than this, they need to go back and let Pahrump be "The Heart of the New Old West," as our town signs used to say before they got here.

Re: Pietrorazio

Mr. Pietrorazio is my younger brother. I was there when he was sentenced for his crime.

He was sentenced to many years. I visited him while he was in prison.

My brother has done all of what the state of Nevada requires sex offenders to do and exceeded the state requirements.

He has registered with Nye County Sheriff, Probation and Parole. When he moves, he has always let them know beforehand and after; never breaking the laws.

As far as Sheriff DeMeo charging all these fees, it is just another way for Nye County to put money in their pockets.

Does this extra money pay for the new Dodge Charger police cars we are getting?

They need to concentrate on looking for repeat offenders and the ones who are not registering.

Leave the ones like my brother alone, who are doing what the state asks. Go after repeat drunk drivers as well. They take lives away more than a sex offender.

Should a sex offender be allowed to just say that they are sorry for what they have done and get away with it?

Sincerely,

JOHN PIETRORAZIO JR.
