Heidi Fleiss to be charged with DUI

Heidi Fleiss, former Hollywood madam and Pahrump's local claim to infamy, will be facing a single charge of being under the influence of a controlled substance, according to the Nye County Sheriff's Office.

The charge stems from an incident on February 7 of this year when Fleiss was arrested and booked on charges of driving under the influence and possession of prescription medication without a prescription.

Sheriff's Office Dep. Tidmarsh reportedly received Fleiss' lab results showing a blood sample taken after Fleiss' arrest testing positive for methamphetamine.

The results were received from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department July 2.

The deputy has filed a single charge of driving under the influence of a controlled substance with the district attorney's office "in addition to the other previous charges filed against Fleiss."

The additional charges were not specified in the press release.

Unregistered, uninsured and stolen

It's bad enough to steal a car, but taking one without the proper paperwork in place can make matters even worse.

James R. Hare, 21, was arrested for allegedly stealing a vehicle Thursday, July 3.

According to a Nye County Sheriff's Office press release, the stolen vehicle Hare was driving had an expired registration.

After getting pulled over, Hare allegedly took off running but only got about 200 yards before being apprehended.

He reportedly admitted to stealing the vehicle by breaking out the driver's side window and using a screwdriver to start the car.

As it turned out, registration wasn't the only thing lacking on the car -- it also was not insured.

The vehicle's owner was informed that their car had been stolen.

A parole and probation hold was placed on Hare by California for previous stolen vehicles and he was transported to the Nye County Detention Center.

He was consequently booked on several charges in addition to one of possession of a stolen vehicle, including unregistered vehicle, injuring/tampering with a motor vehicle, obstructing a peace officer and no insurance.

Hare's bail was set at $7,135.
