Nye County District Attorney Bob Beckett was hospitalized Saturday due to complications resulting from head injuries he received after getting into two separate accidents Father's Day.

Beckett was taken from his house in an ambulance and transferred to Las Vegas that afternoon.

According to Laura Billman, Beckett's campaign manager, the district attorney was still in Las Vegas Monday awaiting various tests to assess his condition.

She was unable to say what, exactly, had led to Beckett's hospitalization, but she did say he was scheduled to see a neurologist.

"His family is with him and he's in good spirits," Billman said.

Beckett appeared in the July Fourth Parade Friday morning.

Billman also confirmed that Beckett will continue campaigning for Department 1 5th District Judge.

He is running against incumbent John Davis and Deputy District Attorney Marla Zlotek.

Beckett was involved in two separate accidents Sunday, June 15, while on his way to California to visit family.

The latter accident resulted in his being arrested for a DUI after blowing a 0.1 percent blood-alcohol content on a breathalyzer test.

The district attorney said he took "full responsibility" for both accidents in an open letter to his constituents. He has not explained what he was doing in a Nye County-owned vehicle in California.

The first accident was a single vehicle rollover in which Beckett's county-issued sports utility vehicle was totaled after skidding across Highway 127 just south of Shoshone, Calif.

That incident occurred at approximately 1:30 p.m.

Only a few hours later, Beckett rolled over his personal van on the same highway.

He was cited for driving under the influence and briefly detained in Barstow, Calif., by the California Highway Patrol before being released into the custody of an unknown friend.

He is scheduled to be arraigned in Barstow Superior Court Sept. 2.
