PAC beer booth The Pahrump Arts Council will host a first-time-ever beer booth at the Freedom Festival July 4-5. Volunteer PAC members are needed to man the booth for short stints. To volunteer, call Janet, 751-1330. Hospice coffee house Tickets are now on sale for the 4th annual Nathan Adelson Blue Butterfly Coffee House which begins at 6 p.m. July 12 in the event center of the Pahrump Nugget. Tickets are $15 each or two for $25. For more information on the event, to purchase tickets, to be a corporate sponsor or to donate a raffle prize, call Tonya, 751-5601. The event is limited to adults over 21. Women's fashion show The Pahrump Valley Republican Women will have the annual fashion show at 1 p.m. Aug. 3 in the Pahrump Nugget. There will be a light luncheon. Tickets are $25 per person and can be purchased in advance at the Pahrump Chamber of Commerce. Call Deanna Brown, 253-9896, for more information. Goldfield Days The historic Goldfield Days Celebration and Land Auction will be Aug. 15-17. There will be a parade, live music and street dancing, staged shoot-outs, crafts, antiques, bus tours of Goldfield, a western barbecue and much more. For more information, call the Goldfield Chamber of Commerce, 775-485-3560. Art in the Park 2008 The event dates for Art in the Park are 9-5 p.m. Oct. 4 and 5. For more information go to artinthepark.org. 4-H dancing The 4-H is looking for youth 5-19 who want to learn clogging and square dancing. Cost of enrollment is $1 and there may be a slight cost for clogging shoes. Clogging classes are Mondays, 4-6 p.m. and square dancing is Tuesday, 6:15-7:30 p.m. All classes are being held in the 4-H Building, 1651 E. Seniors going shopping The Pahrump Senior Center is hosting a bus trip to Primm for seniors who want to "shop until you drop." The bus will leave the VFW on Homestead Road at 8 a.m. July 17 and arrive in Primm at Buffalo Bill's at 10:30 a.m. Participants will receive a voucher for a free lunch buffet and shuttle service to and from the shopping mall will be available at no charge. The bus will leave Primm at 5 p.m. and return to the VFW at 7:30 p.m. Reservations must be made and paid no later than July 15. Call 727-5008 for more information and reservations. Breast cancer detection presentation Nye County Health and Human Services and the Susan G. Komen for the Cure of Southern Nevada will present a seminar on early detection of breast cancer beginning at 10 a.m. July 10 at the Bob Ruud Community Center, Room B. Door prizes will be awarded. |
