LEGION BASEBALL AT HONEYSUCKLE THURSDAY

PVT

CHARLOTTE UYENO / SPECIAL TO THE PVT

After playing a doubleheader against Henderson Foothill today at Paul Meyer Park in Las Vegas, Pahrump Valley's American Legion baseball team will be at home Thursday to take on Henderson Coronado.

The Trojans, 4-4 in Nevada Youth Baseball Association AAA Silver Division games, will have four twin bills remaining after this week's action.

Pahrump Valley could have been in solid contention for a Silver Division playoff berth, but the Trojans lost two tough decisions at River Park Saturday. Sierra Vista, undefeated in Silver Division action going into that twin bill, stayed that way, claiming 3-2 and 12-11 victories and is now 10-0, a game ahead of Legacy, 9-1.

In the first game, lefthander Brandon Uyeno pitched all eight innings and allowed only two earned runs, as Sierra Vista survived.

Compounding that loss was a shoulder injury sustained by all-state outfielder Iggy Wagner. His status is questionable for this week's doubleheaders.

In the nightcap, the teams were playing under the pressure of an impending curfew. Sierra Vista scored a run on a walk-off hit in the 10th inning.

The Trojans trailed 5-1 and 10-6, but battled back to take an 11-10 lead.

Ethan Wald was 2-for-5 and Daniel Miller went 3-for-3 for the Trojans, who had Joey McCaw get two hits.

Foothill was 7-3 going into a single game against Sierra Vista Tuesday. Eldorado, 8-4, does not play again until July 10, when it plays Bishop Gorman.

Coronado was 3-5 in games played through June 30.
