The Fairgrounds Advisory Board was disbanded at the last Pahrump Town Board meeting, but the proposed fairgrounds project will still continue under the direction of the Pahrump Alliance Valley Economic Development.

The fairgrounds have been in the works for over a decade now, but during the past year PAVED has re-named the project the Pahrump Arts and Recreation Complex, or PARC.

Vice Chairman John McDonald said the advisory board's former chairman, Paula Glidden, had agreed it would be best to disband the advisory board.

Glidden is PAVED's president and as such will remain involved in the project.

"The fairground's advisory board is in a state of disarray," Vice Chairman John McDonald said. "Its own goals have been taken over by PAVED ... and it appears to serve no purpose."

Al Balloqui, chairman of PAVED, told the board that there were members of the Fairgrounds Advisory Board who wanted to "give it a few more months."

Chairman Laurayne Murray, however, ultimately agreed with McDonald.

"It hasn't been a functioning board for a significant period of time and we have already taken action as a board to give that responsibility to PAVED," Murray added.
