Answering questions and clearing the sports desk ...

The No. 1 inquiry over the last several weeks has been: Who will be the new football coach at Pahrump Valley High School?

I don't know, but expect a positive response within the next couple weeks.

FYI: To hire a coach, there has to be a teaching position.

Will the football field get artificial turf anytime soon? As soon as funds are avaiable, expect that project to be completed (hopefully, before the end of the decade ... )

A follow-up question: Is there anything to report on Pahrump Valley's second high school? Surely, you jest. I know ... Don't call you Surely...

Some observations ...

The caucuses (cockeyes?) were intended to be a grand exercise in democracy. Alas, they failed ... miserably. Especially since I was asked to sign a blank sheet of paper, as well as declare that I am a citizen of the United States of America. And in a quest to get my vote, I received hundreds (literally) of phone calls, soliciting that vote.

By the way, I changed my affiliation to non-partisan independent ... Redundant, but tell it like it is ...

Go to a Beatty High School home basketball game and expect to get entertained by one of the best -- and loudest -- pep bands around .... who knew that Dale Lerbakken rocks?!

Finally, Pahrump Valley's basketball teams are at home tonight ... Be there, or be square.
