The Southern regionals are Feb. 1-2 at Pahranagat Valley Alamo, with the state tournament Feb. 8-9 at Laughlin.

Who will wrestle for Pahrump Valley has yet to be announced, but expect Trojan Junior Varsity matmen to compete in most weight classes.

Pahrump Valley's varsity is coming off a second-place finish in the always-tough Mohave Invitational at Bullhead City, Ariz. Outpointing the Trojans 534-494 was Class 4-A Las Vegas Spring Valley.

The Grizzlies and Trojans did not meet, but both teams were 6-0 in dual matches. Pahrump Valley boosted its 2007-2008 record to 27-3 with two duals left. They will be held Jan. 30 in the PVHS gym, with Las Vegas Faith Lutheran and Overton Moapa Valley visiting for the final Southern Nevada Class 3-A duals of the season.

On Feb. 2, the Trojans will host the Southern regionals, with Mesquite Virgin Valley and Boulder City joining Faith Lutheran and Moapa Valley in the field. The state tournament is Feb. 8-9 at Moapa Valley.

The Trojans, coached by Craig Rieger, defeated River Valley, Ariz., 79-0, then rolled to wins against Parker, Ariz. 53-18.; Las Vegas Rancho 56-24; San Pasqual, Calif., 47-22, Las Vegas Shadow Ridge 55-21 and Scottsdale, Ariz., Bradshaw Mountain 66-15 to complete the dual segment of the tournament.
