Mary Anne Layley - Marti

Mary Anne Layley-Marti, 69, passed away Dec. 9, 2007.

She was born Jan. 21, 1938 and attended Lincoln High School in Portland, Ore. After graduation, she attended the University of Oregon, where she met and married Jerry Marti.

She and husband Jerry recently moved to Pahrump where she enjoyed country views and the mountains.

She loved the holidays and those who knew her noticed her beauty inside and out. In her earlier days she modeled for magazine covers. She was also a talented artist. Her oil paintings won acclaim in the many art shows she entered and she enjoyed teaching art to aspiring artists.

She loved animals and took in a number of strays through the years.

Her husband, Jerry; son John (Theresa) Marti; daughter Debbie (Mike) Rodriguez; grandchildren, Sean and Annie; step-grandchild Rhiannon McCallister; sister Sandy Kellogg and her other "kids," Smokey (the cat) and Little Bear (the dog) survive her.

Her laughter, heart and love will continue to inspire those of us who loved her for the rest of our lives. (12/09/2007)

Jean Dahl Francis

Jean Dahl Francis, 82, passed away Jan. 8, 2008 at her home.

She was born Nov. 16, 1925 in Rylander, Wis. and was a resident of Pahrump since 1972.

She was a retired accountant.

Her husband Leroy Merriman of Pahrump; sister Carol St. James of Las Vegas; nieces Nancy (Leroy) Thurman and Sue (Kevin) Peckman, both of Las Vegas and nephew John (Lola) Moe of Las Vegas survive her.

Services were held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 12 at Palm Mortuary-Eastern and her interment followed at Palm Valley View Cemetery in Las Vegas. (01/08/2008)

Ruby C. Simon Anderson

Ruby C. Simon Anderson, 58, passed away Jan. 12, 2008 in Las Vegas.

She was born Feb. 28, 1948 in Indonesia and was a 20 year resident of Nevada, having come from California.

She had an 18 year education, was a nurse and a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Ladder Day Saints. She was a veteran of the Army.

Her husband Don Anderson of Las Vegas; daughters Janine Nelson of California and Alyna Anderson of Las Vegas; sister Fanja Simon of California; nephew Don Olsen of California; mother Evie Simon of California and grandson Alexander Nelson of California survive her.

She was preceded in death by her father.
