Hornets, T-birds to clash

The Beatty High School girls and boys basketball teams travel to Indian Springs today for a Nevada Class A Central Division doubleheader. Saturday, the Hornets are at Pahrump Valley in non-division action.

The junior varsity Hornets start today's play at 3 p.m., with subsequent games at 4:30, 6 and 7:30.

Saturday, when the Hornets play the Pahrump Valley Freshmen and Junior Varsity teams, the four-game set begins at 1 p.m. in the Ninth Grade Academy gym.

The Beatty boys, coached by Brian Hayes, are 1-2 in the division, with a win against Round Mountain and losses to Spring Mountain and Tonopah. Indian Springs is 0-2 division, 3-8 in all games.

The Lady Hornets, directed by Aimee Senior, are 1-1 division, 4-5, with their victory against Tonopah and the loss to Central-leading Round Mountain.

The Indian Springs girls are 1-1, 5-14 this season.

Beatty will not play at home again until Feb. 1, when Henderson International School visits for a boys-girls doubleheader. Between now and then, Beatty goes to Lund Jan. 19, to Spring Mountain (boys only) Jan. 22 and to Henderson Jan. 25.

Other games are Feb. 2 at Round Mountain, at Tonopah Feb. 8 and home against Lund Feb. 9.

The Southern 1-A regionals at various sites are the week of Feb. 11. The state tournament is Feb. 21-22-23 at Reno.
