While Las Vegas welcomed 2008 by shooting off fireworks, here in Pahrump an unknown number of suspects decided to just plain shoot -- a .22-caliber weapon, that is.

Sheriff's office deputies were dispatched to a South Homestead Road location at about 7:26 p.m. New Year's Eve for a report of shots fired.

Upon arriving, deputies found numerous gunshots into the residence, which was occupied at the time.

An empty vehicle at the residence was also shot up, and .22-caliber shell casings were found in the area.

Not long after reporting to that incident, deputies were told by dispatch that shots had been fired at an East Carberry Lane residence.

Numerous gunshots were found in the residence's garage and a parked vehicle, and again .22-caliber casings were discovered at the scene.

While investigating that incident, dispatchers told officers of yet another similar incident on Rockaway Lane.

For the third time that night, deputies discovered .22-caliber casings and a shot-up parked car.

Finally, a fourth report of shots fired was reported at a residence on East Comanche Drive.

Several rounds went into that residence and yet more .22-caliber casings were found.

The sheriff's office is investigating the incidents.
