There won't be the congested weekends on the 2008 calendar of events like this year, when there could've been four major activities scheduled at the same time.

For example, during a weekend in April, 2007 the Terrible's Town 250 off-road race, the Business Expo, Art and Sol and the Over the Hump Show n' Shine took place the same weekend.

The Terrible's Town 250 has been moved to Primm. The Business Expo is scheduled May 2 at the Pahrump Nugget, the same weekend as the Cinco de Mayo celebration at Petrack Park. But Art and Sol, the annual arts and crafts fair, was moved to May 23 at a location to be announced.

The Pahrump Fall Festival starts Sept. 26 in 2008, it normally begins on the first weekend in October. The grape stomp takes place at the Pahrump Valley Winery the same weekend, on Sept. 27.

The Wild West Extravaganza and Pony Express Trail Ride take place a week before, Sept. 20, 2008.

Among other events on the 2008 calendar, in January the Pahrump Valley Chamber of Commerce installation dinner is scheduled at 6 p.m., Jan. 18 at the Pahrump Nugget.

The annual Utah Shakespearean Tour will take the stage Feb. 3 at the Pahrump Valley High School auditorium.

The high school rodeo busts out of the gates at McCullough Arena March 3.

The Baker to Vegas Run, in which thousands of police officers race the 120 mile circuit through Pahrump in relays, gets the starting gun in Baker, Calif. at 9 p.m., April 19.

The chamber chili cook-off is scheduled for May 17 at Petrack Park. The annual chamber boat races at Terrible's Lakeside RV Park will get under way June 7.

The Pahrump Freedom Festival will be a day after the Fourth of July, at 10 a.m., Saturday, July 5 at Petrack Park.

The summer winds down with the United Way Luau fund raiser at 6 p.m., Aug. 23 at Honeysuckle Park.

The annual United Way Cheers for Volunteers dinner is scheduled at 6 p.m., Nov. 7 at the Saddle West Hotel and Casino.

The Pahrump competition pow wow will take place over three days beginning Nov. 21 at Petrack Park.
