Michael Brown of the Amanda Faye Brown Chapter of the Nevada Melanoma Education Foundation will hold an educational seminar at the Bob Ruud Community Center Monday, March 3, at 6 p.m.

All members of the community are invited. The foundation encourages middle and high school teenagers also attend this presentation.

The presentation is an awareness and educational program developed to save lives and educate our teens to the dangers of the Nevada sun. To date this program has been presented and extremely well received in over 25 junior and senior high schools in Las Vegas and will be presented in the Pahrump schools when they work it into their schedule.

The statistics on melanoma and skin cancer for southern Nevada are astronomical.

One out of three children in southern Nevada will be diagnosed with melanoma or skin cancer in their lifetime.

Education and awareness are the key to early diagnosis and treatment.

"You're never too old to learn about melanoma, but you're always too young to die from it" is the motto for the Amanda Faye Brown Chapter.

Information on melanoma and skin cancer awareness is available at skincheck.org and amandasmessage.com.
