PETT: Nye will receive $11.5m in funds
Nye County will settle for a $250,000 increase in payment equal to taxes from the U.S. Department of Energy for the land value of Yucca Mountain, increasing the total payment to $11.5 million in the president's 2008-2009 fiscal year budget beginning Oct. 1.

In compliance with statewide budget cuts mandated by Gov. Jim Gibbons, the Nye County school board approved hacking off $490,284 from the 2007-2008 budget draft at its Feb. 21 meeting.

Fire Rescue Service will respond if dispatched
Fire Chief Scott Lewis said that Pahrump Valley Fire Rescue Service will still respond to accidents or fires outside of town boundaries, provided they are dispatched by the sheriff's office, despite the dissolution of the interlocal agreement between the fire department and Nye County Emergency Services.
