David Roberton

David Wayne Roberton, 41, passed away Feb. 14, 2008, at his home in Dayton, with his wife and best friend Lisa, by his side.

He was born Nov. 24, 1966, in St. Joseph, Mo. and raised in Opheim, Mont. He was a 3-year resident of Dayton, having moved from Pahrump.

At the time of his death he was a security guard at the Douglas County High School in Minden. He loved his job and his co-workers. These people later became his Douglas High School family.

Dave was a veteran of Desert Storm and received two bronze stars honorably as well as other commendations while serving our country.

Dave fought valiantly to overcome a diagnosis of sarcoma cancer for two years. Wouldn't you know, he had a cancer as rare as he was. Although he always said "he was going to beat it," he did, when his angel arrived.

He was so proud of his whole family and loved life to the fullest and tried so hard to stay with us all. He always wanted his "Little Lisa" by his side. He took great pride in his children.

We will all miss him so much, but through our time with him, his mark of love will never be forgotten. He loved us all so much.

Survivors are his wife Lisa Roberton of Dayton; daughter Brittany (Anthony) Toalson-Roberton of Eagle Point Ore.; sons Jason (Amanda) Toalson of Dayton, John Toalson of Las Vegas, Michael Roberton of Ft. Lewis Wash., and his other two children, Willy and Rocky; father Larry Roberton of Opheim Mont.; sister Michelle (Lionel) Rasore of Las Vegas; brothers Warren (Lissa) Roberton of Yerington and Jeffrey Roberton of Opheim Mont.; two granddaughters Madison Marie and Savannah Nicole Toalson of Dayton, and four nieces Jordyn and Kelsey Rasore of Las Vegas and Jenna and Tessa Roberton of Yerington.

He was preceded in death by his mother Pat Roberton.

Dave was a die-hard Raiders fan. He loved football and sports. He also loved to ride his quad in the mountains and drive the loop around Lake Tahoe.

Dave came into this world on the day of thanks, Thanksgiving 1966, and he left this world on the day of love, Valentines Day. In between he made a difference in many lives and will be sorely missed as well as his laugh and ability to make everyone else laugh.

Viewing was held 4-8 p.m., Feb. 19, at the Autumn Funerals and Cremations in Carson City. Graveside funeral services were accompanied by military color guard, 2 p.m., Feb. 20, at Dayton Cemetery. Memorial service and tribute from his Douglas High School family was held at 6:30 p.m., Feb. 20, at the commons in Douglas High School.

Those wishing to make a memorial contribution in Dave's memory can direct them to Douglas High School or Sarcoma Cancer Research. (02/14/2008)
