A suspension of the liquor license of Su Mesa Restaurant for 60 days was approved by the Nye County Licensing and Liquor Board Tuesday, effective from the Jan. 26 emergency suspension by Nye County sheriff's deputies.

Nye County Sheriff's Capt. Bill Becht said deputies raided the restaurant Jan. 25 after reports it was hosting after hours parties involving minors drinking alcohol.

Attorney Harry Gensler, representing Su Mesa owner Maria Zepeda, said the suspension was the result of an agreement reached with the district attorney's office and Becht.

"We're in agreement with that. Ms. Zepeda just wants to get this matter behind us and get this resolved," Gensler said.

Approval of the agreement by the licensing and liquor board -- which includes all five county commissioners and the sheriff -- would prevent the restaurant owner having to sit through a full-blown hearing with witnesses, Gensler said.

Nye County Chief Civil Deputy District Attorney Ron Kent said commissioners aren't bound by the agreement.
