MARK WAITE / PVT
The Rev. Thomas Gilbert, pastor of the non-denominational Truth In Life Ministries, and Will Zak, associate pastor, try to stay warm as they man the kiosk on Highway 160 and the Tecopa Turnoff offering free coffee to motorists Sunday night. The church officials started offering coffee to motorists over busy holiday weekends beginning on Labor Day weekend 2006. Gilbert said they served 200 people this past Saturday alone. On busy three-day weekends he said they can serve up to 500 people. The church receives donations from local businesses for supplies. Some religious literature is available at the booth, as well as a donation cup.
