Denny Weaver

Dennis Charles Weaver, 62, passed away Feb. 11, 2008, in Pahrump.

He was born July 2, 1945, in Berrien Springs, Mich., to Frances and Charles Weaver and he was a resident of Pahrump for six years.

Denny was raised in Berrien Springs and graduated from Berrien Springs High School in 1963. He went on to graduate from the Ferris State University School of Pharmacy. He began his residency at Sparrow Hospital in Lansing, Mich., and ultimately became the Assistant Director of Pharmacy until he retired.

Denny was also employed by Sparrow Home Health Care and most recently for Smith's (Kroger) Food and Drug and the Desert View Regional Medical Center.

Denny was an active member in the Elks Lodge 2796, enjoyed playing golf, traveling, music, camping and socializing with friends.

Above all, he was a wonderful husband and a dedicated father. His family and friends will dearly miss him.

His wife Carol, of Pahrump; daughter Kendra Weaver, of Lansing, Mich.; son Kurt Weaver, of Houston, Texas; stepdaughter Mardell Brehm, of Pahrump; mother Frances Weaver, of Grand Rapids. Mich.; twin brother Mark (Jan) Weaver, of Grand Rapids, Mich.; sister Sharon (Ron) Archer, of Plainwell, Mich., and daughter-in-law Misako Brehm and granddaughter Keilei Seirah Brehm, both of Tokyo, Japan, survive him.

He was preceded in death by his father Charles Weaver; twin brothers Larry and Jerry and stepson Michael Brehm.

Visitation is 11-1 p.m., Feb. 16, at Pahrump Family Mortuary. Services will follow at 1 p.m.

Rosaria LaRocca

Rosaria LaRocca, 95, better known as Sally, went home to Heaven Feb. 7, 2008.

She was born in Licodiae Euboeae, Providence of Catania in Sicily, Nov. 3, 1912.

Sally was a pastoral minister, a Eucharist minister and gave communion to the home-bound and persons in rehabilitation facilities. She was in the business of prayers and was a third generation Franciscan.

She was written up in the Pahrump Mirror (Gazette) in an article titled "An Angel We All Should Know."

Vern Van Winkle, owner of Channel 41, invited Sally to appear on TV every year since she turned 90, and she complied.

She ran for the Ms. Senior Golden Years pageant, founded by B.J. Hetrick-Irwin. In 2004, B.J. honored Sally with a special award of courage. This award will be given out every year to a deserving person and named "The Sally LaRocca Courage Award."

Sally was elated to be so honored. Thank you, B.J.

Sally is survived by her children Jean and Paul; son-in-law Carl; daughter-in-law Sue; Rosemary; four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 5 p.m., Feb. 16 with a memorial to follow at Our Lady of the Valley Church. There will be a reception to follow in the church hall.

Special thanks go out to Evergreen Nursing Home staff for the extra love and care.

Ella Mae 'Tiny' Coffey

Ella Mae 'Tiny' Coffey, 91, passed away Feb. 12, 2008 in Pahrump.

She was born July 13, 1916 in Smart, Va. and was a resident of Pahrump for 10 years, having come from Lake Isabelle, Calif.

She was a factory worker and of the Christian faith.

Tiny loved crafts, cooking and raising children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Daughters Geneva Patton, Barbara Steininger, Nora Tatom, Delores Revill and Sandra Douglas; sisters Amanda Greene and Maxine Underwood; 21 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren survive her.

She was preceded in death by J.C. Coffey, Mary Ellen Gulas and Alva Bowley.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m., Feb. 15, Grandview Cemetery on Vicki Ann Road. (02/12/2008)

Jimmie Juanita Purcell

Jimmie Juanita Purcell, 84, passed away Feb. 13, 2008.

She was born Nov. 13, 1923 in Ranger, Texas and was a resident of Pahrump for 22 years.

She was a veteran of World War II and served during wartime as a sergeant in the U.S. Army.

She was a tailor of men's clothing and an instructor as well.

Her daughters Patti Tillman of Riverside, Calif., and Peggy Tudor of Pahrump; son Bill Bain of Houston, Texas; brother Jerry Welch of Houston, Texas; sister Barbra Brookshire of Houston, Texas; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren survive her.

Services will be at 2 p.m., Feb. 15 at Lee Funeral Home. (02/13/2008)

Leonard J. Coenen

Leonard J. Coenen, 79, passed away Jan. 27, 2008 in Pahrump.

He was born Dec. 24, 1928 in Madison, Wis. and lived in Pahrump for 10 years, having come from Las Vegas.

He was a veteran retired from the military and a member of United We Stand.

His daughter Karla (Zoltan) Legeny of Dallas, Texas survives him.

Services are within our hearts.

Betty J. Coenen

Betty J. Coenen, 81, passed away Jan. 23, 2008 in Las Vegas.

She was born Sept. 7, 1926 in Madison, Wis. and lived in Pahrump for 10 years, having come from Las Vegas.

She was a teachers aid and had a 12 years of education.

She is survived by her daughter Karla (Zoltan) Legeny of Dallas, Texas.

Services are within our hearts.

Kayla Lynn Spencer

Kayla Lynn Spencer, 8, passed away Feb. 11, 2008 at Sunrise Children's Hospital in Las Vegas.

She was born Aug. 1, 1999 in Henderson and lived three years of her life in Pahrump.

Her father Brian Spencer of Henderson; mother Davonna Urso and stepfather Thomas Urso of Henderson; sisters Kelsie Spencer of Alamo and Karly Ferguson of Las Vegas; brother Michael Ferguson of Las Vegas; grandparents George and Edna Mikel of Pahrump, Ken and Linda Spencer of Orderville, Utah and Joanne and Glen Strussenberg of Henderson survive her.

Services will be at 1 p.m., Monday, Feb. 18 at Palm Mortuary in Henderson with the interment to follow.
