Diego Salazar, 28, decided he had to see a man about a girl Tuesday, Feb. 12.

He ended up at Desert View Regional Medical Center after being beaten up with his own gun.

According to a Nye County Sheriff's Office press release, Salazar traveled to Pahrump all the way from Indian Springs just to duke it out with Jason Lynch, 31, over a juvenile female both were apparently interested in.

Deputies were dispatched to the area of Vicki Ann and Bridger roads at approximately 6:30 p.m. for a report of a person down with a possible gunshot wound.

It turned out the injured party was Salazar, who did not have a gunshot wound but several severe lacerations on his head.

Further investigation revealed that Salazar had brought a gun to the fight, but Lynch took the firearm away and used it to beat the daylights out of Salazar.

The firearm was recovered, but Lynch had already fled the scene before deputies arrived.

Salazar was taken to the hospital where officers attempted to question him about the incident, but "he was less than forthcoming," the sheriff's office press release stated.

Due to his injuries, Salazar (who, it was discovered, is a convicted felon) was not arrested at the time, but a warrant has been applied for.

The sheriff's office will request that the district attorney's office charge him as an ex-felon in possession of a firearm, challenge to fight, battery, obstructing a peace officer, and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

Lynch has not yet been located, but when he is, he could possibly face charges of challenge to fight and battery with a deadly weapon with substantial bodily harm.
