VEA planning for scholarships
Valley Electric Association (VEA) will award six educational scholarships to assist qualified individuals in furthering their education. The scholarships are described as follows: Two full-time academic scholarships at $1,000 per year for four consecutive years (provides recipients longer term funding stability in pursuit of a four-year undergraduate degree in a declared course of study). Two full-time vocational/technical scholarships at $1,000 per year for two consecutive years (provides recipients longer term funding stability in pursuit of a two-year degree in a declared course of study). Two part-time continuing education scholarships at $500 per year for one year (provides assistance to those seeking training or education on a part-time basis to facilitate career changes or new employment opportunities). To be eligible, parents or legal guardians of the candidate, or the candidate, must be a member of VEA with an active account served by VEA (excluding dependents of persons serving on the selection committee). The applicant must enroll at an accredited educational or training institution as a full-time student or, in the case of continuing education, as a part-time student in a declared degree path. The VEA Ambassadors have volunteered to be on the "selection committee" to choose those applicants who will be awarded the scholarships. The winners will be introduced at the 2008 annual meeting in Beatty on April 19. Visit VEA's website at www.vea.coop for more information or stop by the office and pick up an application. |
