A victory against visiting Overton Moapa Valley tonight will give the Pahrump Valley girls the No. 1 seed for the Southern Nevada Class 3-A Regional basketball tournament.

The Lady Trojans, coached by Bob Hopkins, moved to 6-1 in the Southern League with a 72-25 rout of Boulder City on the Eagles' court Tuesday.

Pahrump Valley, 22-7 in all games, got that seeding advantage with their 35-33 win against Mesquite Virgin Valley (6-1, 23-3) last Friday.

The regionals are Feb. 14 and 16 at Del Sol High School in Las Vegas.

The tentative girls regional pairings are:

No. 1 Pahrump Valley (22-7) vs. No. 4 Moapa Valley (11-13), 6:20 p.m., Feb. 14.

No. 2 Virgin Valley (23-3) vs. No. 3 Faith Lutheran (15-10), 3 p.m., Feb. 14.

The regional championship game is at 6:40 p.m. Feb. 16. The winner advances to the state tournament, to be played Feb. 22-23 at the Lawlor Events Center on the University of Nevada campus in Reno.

At Boulder City Tuesday, the Trojans came out firing on all cylinders as they sprinted to a 20-5 first quarter lead.

Pahrump Valley fired and tallied four 3-pointers in the first period and limited the Eagles to only two field goals.

Following a slow second quarter and leading 26-12 at the half, the Trojans exploded in the third quarter outscoring the overmatched Eagles 20-4. The accelerator was pushed further down in the final quarter as the Trojans tallied 26 points.

Every player scored for the Trojans as four players scored in double figures. Leading were freshman guard Alyson Kunzi and senior post Megan Meads with 12 points each.

Junior guard Ashley Humbert had 10 points and senior guard Brittany Orr added 10 points. Senior post Christine Gamble led the team with 11 rebounds, followed by Kristy Daffer with 10.
