Valentine's Day is this coming Thursday, and in some cases, it's almost too late to think about some celebrations.

Other than cards and flowers, an evening on the town might be an option. If it is, the Pahrump Valley Times has checked around and the following list is a round-up of special menus around the valley.

The Stockman's Steak house had no information at the time of this writing. Call 751-6500 for current information.

Symphony's at the Winery is the big ticket this year. Dinner will cost $150 per couple and the menu is a five-course wine dinner featuring a choice of appetizer, bisque, a salad, choice of entrée, wine with diner, champagne, coffee and a personalized bottle of wine to take home. They are almost booked solid. Call 727-6900 to reserve a table.

The Patio Cafe is offering something new and novel by bringing back the fondue rage of the 70s. On the menu is a choice of cheese or beef Burgundy fondue. It comes with cream of asparagus soup, a garden salad, grilled vegetables, chocolate fondue with strawberries, bananas, apple slices and biscotti and a complementary glass of wine for $23.95 per person. Reservations are necessary. Call 537-0222.

Eagle's Nest has a good deal of a rib eye steak, baked potato, salad, vegetables and with two reservations, there's a free bottle of champagne. The price is only $10.99 per person and the number to call is 727-5290.

The Last Chance Saloon and Steak house is offering a New York Strip and shrimp with lobster bisque, salad, potato and a complimentary glass of wine for $18.99 per person. Reservations are necessary and the number is 751-6133.

Mountain Falls Grill Room has the most choices and the price range to suit everyone. On the menu are, rosemary prime rib ($40), chicken Florentine ($35), orange roughy ($40), surf and turf ($65), pork Normandy ($40) and a special "Love Bird Special," which is a heart-shaped rib eye with fresh vegetables, garlic mashed potatoes and sautéed mushrooms ($80 for two). All dinners include soup or salad, appetizer, dessert and a bottle of wine. There are two seatings, one at 5 p.m. and one at 7 p.m. Call 537-6553 for reservations. They are particularly welcoming large parties.

Enjoy.
