Kenneth 'Ray' King

Kenneth Ray King born Oct. 28, 1933 in Dublin Texas, passed away Jan. 16, 2008 in Amado, Ariz.

Ray moved to Pahrump in 1967 and was a resident for 41 years.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 16 at the Pahrump Elks Lodge, 2280 E. Basin Road, past the DMV. (01/16/2008)

Keith A. Gerardin

Keith A. Gerardin, 55, passed away Jan. 30, 2008 in Pahrump.

He was born Jan. 26, 1953 in Milwaukee, Wis. and was a resident of Pahrump for 12 years, having come from Arizona.

He was a manager.

His daughter Laurie (Ryan) Hamilton; son Bill (Stephanie) Gerardin; brothers Rick, Greg and Mark Gerardin and granddaughter Gavyn Gerardin survive him.

Lee Funeral Home handled arrangements. (01/30/2008)

William E. 'Bud' Cross

William E. 'Bud' Cross, 83, passed away Jan. 28, 2008 at University Medical Center in Las Vegas.

He was born Feb. 9, 1924 in Colorado and was a 20-year resident of Pahrump.

He was a kiln operator in the manufacturing industry and a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served during World War II.

His wife Minke Cross of Pahrump; son Ernest Cross of Pahrump; daughters Sharon (Bill) Hale of Hauser, Idaho, Elizabeth Campbell of Red Oak, Texas and Terry (Les) Glock of Cedaredge, Colo.; nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild survive him.

Arrangements were handled by Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main Street, Las Vegas, Nev. (01/28/2008)

Burton Earl Hughes

Burton Earl Hughes, 79, passed away Jan. 10, 2008 in Pahrump.

He was born Feb. 8, 1928 in Ontario Canada and was a resident of Pahrump for two and a half years, having come from Washington.

An engineer, he retired from Aero Space in 1990 and was a military veteran of both the U.S. Navy and the Marines.

He attended the Trinity Assembly of God.

His wife Joy Hughes; daughters Lucinda Swanson of Nevada and Kathleen Hughes of California; son Burton (Toni) Hughes of Washington; brother Byron Hughes of Washington; sister Helen Brewster of Washington; 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren survive him.

He was preceded in death by his parents and son, Byron (Chuck) Hughes.

Services are pending. (01/10/2008).

Darrel D. McLaughlin

Darrel D. McLaughlin, 68, passed away Jan. 30, 2008 in a California hospital after a short illness with brain cancer.

He was born May 17, 1940 in Denver, Colo.

His mother, Betty of Pahrump; sister Marcy Curran of Thousand Oaks, Calif.; five children and seven grandchildren survive him.

His wife Betty preceded him in death in March of 2007.

Services will be held Feb. 9, in Denver, Colo., where he will be laid to rest beside his wife Betty and his father, Gerald McLaughlin. (01/30/2008)

Mary Jane Meek

Mary Jane Meek, 70, passed away Feb. 2, 2008 of natural causes.

She was born Aug. 28, 1937 in Abernathy, Texas and was a resident of Pahrump for 22 years.

She was a homemaker.

Mary was very loving and had many friends close to her heart. She was full of life and was loved by all who were fortunate to know her.

She loved yard sales, the New York Yankees and the Dallas Cowboys were her favorite sports teams.

She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and she will be missed.

She is survived by her husband Lonnie Meek of Porum, Okla., where the couple made their home for three years.

She has one surviving son, Jeff (Liz) Meek of Pahrump and one son, Allen Meek who passed away Dec. 1, 1991.

She has eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her twin sister June Skurlock, mother Lucille Hedgepeth and father Marvin Hedgepeth.

Services will be at 1 p.m., Feb. 9, at Pahrump Valley Methodist Church, corner of highway 372 and Pahrump Valley Boulevard. A reception will follow at the home of Jeff and Liz Meek, 3440 East Street. (02/02/2008)

Stephen Hickey

Stephen Hickey, 38, passed away Jan. 29, 2008 in Pahrump.

He was born July 24, 1969 in New York and lived in Pahrump for 18 years, having come from New York.

Stephen was a a waiter at Pahrump Valley Winery for seven years and also at Saddle West. He was a wonderful father, son, brother and individual. He was going to be a grandfather on July 1.

Stephen will be greatly missed by all.

His mother Marion Hickey; wife Charlene Hickey; daughters Kady and Alicia Hickey and Callie Harrison; sons Travis, Stephen, Noah and Tyler Hickey and sisters Marion Dove, Lisa Hickey, Stephanie Hickey, Rosemary Hughes, Karen Hickey and Joan Hickey survive him.

He was preceded in death by his father Stephen Hickey.

Private family services will be held. (01/29/2008)

Donna L. McBrayer

Donna L. McBrayer, 60, passed away Jan. 30, 2008 in Pahrump.

She was born May 13, 1947 in Arizona and lived in Pahrump for 10 years, having come from Las Vegas.

She was a nurse and a member of the LDS Church.

Donna worked for many years as an RN in ICU Neonatal, Cardiac ICU, Labor and Delivery and home health in Pahrump. She was responsible for starting the Nathan Adelson Hospice here and was a past director of Evergreen.

Her husband of 42 years, Tom McBrayer; sons Scott (Karen) and Kevin (Lisa) McBrayer of Pahrump; mother Virginia (John) Towle of Troy Mich.; sister Debbie of Illinois; grandchildren Ashley, Katlyn and Braden McBrayer of Pahrump and Kyle and Clayton McBrayer of St. Charles, Mo. survive her.

She was preceded in death by her father Russell Johnson and her parents.

A viewing will be held 5-6 p.m. and memorial service 6-7 p.m., Feb. 6 at Lee Funeral Home. (01/30/2008)
