Why pay more than necessary?
By MARY BALDASANO
Why Pay More Services Inc. offers other accounting services besides tax preparation. Located at 1201 S. Highway 160, Suite 102 (across from Saddle West), Earl W. Elijah provides bookkeeping services such as payroll, accounts receivable, accounts payable, expense and other business reports, new business accounting establishment as well as state and federal tax preparation, and more. How can the company offer a tax preparation fee of only $30 for non-homeowners and $50 for homeowners and businesses for $100, you ask? Well, Elijah said, "I believe in giving a properly prepared return without charging the client more than is necessary. I do everything at one time, which lowers the cost of preparation." The only "catch" is that you need to pay the fee before Dec. 20 for the return to be prepared by April 15, 2009. This makes you a member of his client base. After that date, if you are not a member, you must pay full market price. You must respect his procedures to get the lower rate as he uses this method to determine the number of staff he needs for the tax season. New clients will get the lower rate for the first year but will then be invited to be a member in the following years. If you are a nonprofit client, and bring a new client to his business, you get 20 percent off the fee. Elijah believes in giving a day's work for a day's pay, so reports are detailed with every expense and revenue properly accounted documented. This is particularly important when business and personal expenses are commingled in the same account. The checkbook must be provided to establish balances. If each account has a separate checkbook, all must be provided. Elijah said, "I have been doing this for 19 years. I will only reflect actual revenue to personal and business accounts. I will not lie -- that's not what I'm here for. With God's grace, I do the job without greed. I also hope to provide the Pahrump Valley future employment opportunities, so I charge 75 percent lower than market rate." "When I do hire personnel, they must have the same ethical standard. I teach by example. If they can't follow my requirements, they will be terminated," said Elijah. Elijah's wife, Colleen Williams Elijah, opened the business in 1999 in Las Vegas as Absolute Business Services, but marketing was more efficient under Why Pay More Services Inc. They both love helping people by fixing problems. "By helping people pay lower taxes, those funds are made available to the person or business during the year to buy a new car or hire more employees," said Elijah. Hours are Thursday-Saturday, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., closed on Sunday and Monday. Elijah can be contacted at 1-877-243-0687. |
