SHELBY, N.C. -- Nevada champion Las Vegas Bishop Gorman defeated Pasco, Wash., for the American Legion baseball World Series championship here Wednesday.

The game was postponed by rain Tuesday.

Gorman, which finished 75-7-1 this summer, was 116-10-1 in high school and Legion games this season. The high school Gaels were 41-3 enroute to the Nevada Class 4-A state championship and the Legion team won its last 21 starts.

Gorman had advanced to the finals by beating Sumter, S.C., 11-9 Sunday night.

On Monday, in a game that didn't affect Gorman's appearance in the title game, the Titans ran their World Series record to 4-0 with a 6-1 win against South Richmond, Va.

Pasco earned a trip to the finals with an 8-7 conquest of Sumter Monday night.
