Velma Joann Furgerson

Velma Joann Furgerson, 78, passed away peacefully Aug. 23, 2008, in Zanesville, Ohio. She was in hospice care at the time and surrounded by her loving family.

She was born April 26, 1930, in Logan, Ohio and lived in Pahrump before moving back to Ohio.

She worked at the glasshouse in Zanesville before moving West. She had a passion for music and singing for Jesus.

She was a member of Pahrump Community Church.

She enjoyed crocheting and working with crafts, leading Bible studies and visiting her friends and family.

Her brother David Conkey of Jacksonville, Ohio; half-sister Jean of Pennsylvania; daughter Mary Jo Brink; son David Eugene Alexander; grandchildren Becky and David King, Vicki and Shawn Hoagland, Marti Brink and Carlos Solis-Lopez; son David's children; great-granddaughters Andrea and Elizabeth Hoagland and Leticia Solis-lopez; son-in-law Steven (Olga) Furgerson and their children and grandchildren survive her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd and Mary Alice Green Conkey; husband Buford Furgerson; first husband Kenneth Barker and great-grandson Anthony Carlitos Solis-Lopez.

Thank you to all who cared for her and to her good friend Joy Barbee in Nevada.

Memorial services will be held Aug. 30 at the Snouffer Funeral Home, 1150 Military Road in Zanesville.

Gilbert Nickolas Montalvo

Gilbert "Gilly" Nickolas Montalvo, 73, passed away Aug. 20 at Maui Memorial Medical Center in Hawaii.

He was born Oct. 16, 1934, in Wailuku, Maui and made his home in Pahrump for several years before returning to Maui.

He was a retired mechanic for Wailuku Sugar Co, He was of the Catholic faith and served in the U.S. Navy.

Wife Lucille of Maui; daughter Gail Balthazar, formerly of Pahrump; daughters Jennifer Tomita and Lisa Montalvo; son Gilbert Montalvo; 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren survive him.

Memorial services will be Aug. 29 in Maui. (08/20/2008)
