NTA making people scream for ice cream
By MARY BALDASANO
The Pahrump community has been so generous to No to Abuse and Resource Center (NTA/RC) that the organization's leadership decided to return the favor by holding an ice cream social. The event will take place Sunday, Sept. 7, from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Bob Ruud Community Center. Clelia Garrity, director of NTA/RC, said, "We just want to thank the community, both business and individuals for their outstanding support. The food drive was overwhelmingly successful." She added, "We also want the community to know we are here to help those who need us." The event is held at the community center to meet the theme of "just a place for family." Alice Caffejian, NTA/RC Treasurer, said, "We decided on an ice cream social because everyone likes ice cream. We will be offering sugar-free for those who either need or prefer it. Also, every age can participate and it's open to everyone in the community." The ice cream was purchased from Anderson Dairy at a very low price, which helped make it possible to hold the social. Caffejian said "an ice cream social was the least involved and least costly thing we could do that would include Pahrump as a whole. We also thank those who helped with organizing and setup. The freezer and the instructions are donated." Also at the event will be a list of those services provided by the organization such as the shelter program and related counseling for abused men or women. So come on out and join the fun and bring the family. |
