The fiscal year ending June 30 brought about personnel changes at the local JobConnect office, but Diane Lake, the interim director, said, "We're open for business and services are continuing as normal."

Job seekers are welcome to visit the JobConnect office and meet with any number of One-Stop partners who have co-located there to help people find work.

Job seekers may use the computers, fax and copiers at no cost as they search for employment and employment information.

They also have the opportunity to network with employers and other job seekers.

An orientation to the services offered at JobConnect is held each Monday and Thursday at 9 a.m. Those wanting to attend are asked to sign up in advance.

The Southern Nevada Workforce Investment Board, which oversees the operations at the Pahrump One-Stop office, has contracted with Nevada Partners and the Greater New Jerusalem Family Life Center to provide additional job search training services to Nye and Esmeralda County residents through One-Stop.

Nevada Partners is a community-based nonprofit organization in North Las Vegas providing education, employment and training services to adults and dislocated workers.

Greater New Jerusalem Family Life Center also works closely with youth in Nye County to prepare them for employment through education and training.

JobConnect is open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. The contact phone number is 537-2323.

JobConnect has been helping both youth and adults access labor market information, look for jobs and obtain training since 2005.
